MISU (Massimo Giovannini) è un fotografo italiano con base a Trento.
La sua ricerca si sviluppa attraverso progetti di lunga durata in cui rigore visivo, coerenza e tensione estetica definiscono un percorso personale in continua evoluzione.
La fotografia è per lui uno strumento di riflessione e traduzione: un modo per trasformare percezioni interiori, intuizioni ed esperienze vissute in immagini aperte a più livelli di lettura.
La tecnica, pur essendo parte fondamentale del processo, rimane subordinata all’idea. Ogni lavoro nasce prima mentalmente e prende forma attraverso un equilibrio tra controllo e naturalezza.
Tra i progetti più riconosciuti figurano Henkō e In the Blink of an Eye, realizzato in collaborazione con Alfredo Meschi.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Non fotografo per documentare il mondo, ma per dare forma a ciò che accade dentro di me mentre lo attraverso.
La fotografia è il linguaggio che sento più vicino alla mia natura: il mezzo attraverso cui riesco a trasformare intuizioni, tensioni e vissuti in immagini. Ogni progetto nasce da una necessità personale e si sviluppa nel tempo, spesso per anni, fino a trovare una forma coerente.
Mi interessa creare lavori che possano essere letti su più livelli: dall’impatto estetico immediato a una dimensione più profonda e intima.
Fotografo prima di tutto per me stesso. Se poi chi guarda riesce a entrare in quei livelli nascosti e a riconoscerli, allora il lavoro continua oltre me.
MISU (Massimo Giovannini) is an Italian photographer based in Trento.
His practice unfolds through long-term projects where visual rigor, coherence and aesthetic tension shape a personal body of work in constant evolution.
He uses photography as a reflective and translational medium: a way to transform inner perceptions, intuitions and lived experience into images open to multiple interpretations.
Although technique plays an important role in his process, it always remains secondary to the idea. Each work is first conceived mentally, then built through a balance of control and apparent naturalness.
Among his most recognized projects are Henkō and In the Blink of an Eye, created in collaboration with Alfredo Meschi.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I do not photograph to document the world, but to give form to what happens inside me while moving through it.
Photography is the language that feels closest to my nature: the medium through which I transform intuitions, tensions and lived experiences into images. Each project begins from a personal necessity and develops over time, often for years, until it finds its coherent form.
I am interested in creating works that can be read on multiple levels: from immediate aesthetic impact to a deeper and more intimate dimension.
I photograph first of all for myself. If viewers are able to enter those hidden layers and recognize them, then the work continues beyond me.
